Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is today meeting six of the squad that secured promotion to the Premier League looking to thrash out new contracts with them.

Whilst the vast majority of the squad have clauses in their contracts that saw their wages increase as soon as they won promotion, some – such as Brett Ormerod, and apparently Keith Southern – did not.

However, under orders from BFC manager Ian Holloway, Oyston is now set to offer the half dozen players in question new contracts as the club looks to reward them for their achievement.

There has been a lot of speculation and concern over budgets and all things financial at Bloomfield Road this summer, but it looks like common sense has won the day on this matter.

The club will also hold talks with out of contract Ben Burgess and Rob Edwards, although Burgess is believed to be on the verge of signing for Notts County.

Meanwhile, Ollie has gone off on holiday for ten days with his family, leaving Karl Oyston to negotiate deals on his behalf (I can hear the collective sigh from here!).

Two players were at the club yesterday negotiating terms, and several more are expected over the coming days as the club looks to work through a lengthy list of targets.

One deal that still needs to be tied down however is Ollie’s contract, although Oyston dismissed speculation yesterday that the two parties are poles apart on what they want and that he expects Ollie to sign a new deal shortly.
