Keith Southern won’t play again until around March next year after undergoing surgery on his ankle.

Southern sustained the injury early on in the recent home win against QPR. He has since gone under the knife and as a result will be sat in the stands for a few months.

It is a major blow for Gnashers and the club. Simon Grayson told the Gazette: ‘It’s a big blow for the club. It’s also a big blow for the lad himself because he has been playing very well this year.’

Michael Flynn has come into the side to replace Southern, partnering Claus Jorgensen in midfield. David Fox is also waiting in the wings for another chance.

Despite having some cover in Southern’s position, Grayson is sure to be on the lookout for a central midfielder when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Also top of Larry’s wanted list will be a couple of strikers’ to fire Pool to a few more victories. Grayson has been promised money to fund transfers, but how much he gets and uses remains to be seen.
