Blackpool’s training facilities are undergoing work after Manager Neil McDonald’s wishes were met by Chairman Karl Oyston. Pool are currently training in Scotland but when they return they’ll use the stadium for training whilst work is being carried out at Squires Gate.
The redeveloping of the training ground is somewhat overdue, with the facilities at Blackpool being hugely criticised by a number of ex-players and managers, most noticeably Ian Holloway who described Squires Gate as a ‘hell hole’. Karl Oyston had promised a new training complex in 2009, 6 years on and some work is being undergone.
Former Manager Lee Clark had touched upon the idea of improved training facilities with Karl Oyston before his departure and other former managers had wanted facilities to be improved. McDonald seems to have finally achieved the changes other managers had wanted.
