Manager Lee Clark has today appointed Paul Stephenson as the new first team coach at Bloomfield Road.

During his playing days, the midfielder played for Newcastle, Millwall, Brentford, York and Hartlepool and he’s previously worked with the gaffer at both Norwich City and Huddersfield Town.

Speaking to the Official Site as the news was announced, Clark explained.

‘Paul is a popular and well respected coach who I know very well. He was a key part of my backroom team at Huddersfield and he’ll bring a lot to the club moving forward.’

46 year old Stephenson’s most recent role was at Accrington Stanley where he performed the duty of assistant manager, and he comes in now to replace Noel Blake who left earlier in the week.

With Blake departing, Clark also wished to say.

‘I’d like to place on record my thanks to Noel for all his effort and hard work during my time at the club. He played a vital role in helping me adjust to life at Bloomfield Road and I wish him nothing but the very best for the future.’

Stephenson comes in as our fourth new member of staff since the arrival of Clark, and he now joins Alan Thompson, Malcolm Crosby and Mick Rathbone in Clark’s backroom team.
