Paul Ince has now joined up with the Blackpool squad in Portugal after finishing some work on his UEFA pro licence. Steve Thompson and Alex Rae had been running the training camp, but with manager Paul Ince having now returned, the players will be working as hard as ever in preparation for the new season.

Matt Phillips, Chris Basham, Angel Martinez and Nathan Eccleston have all expressed how important they feel their pre-season will be and manager Paul Ince will be keen to give them as good a pre-season he can. With a number of trialists and ex Notts County player Neal Bishop believed to be training with the Seasiders, it will certainly be interesting to see what sort of squad will be put together in time for the opening game of the Championship season.

With current training ground Squires Gate generally considered to be below standard, training in a foreign country may be a much better preparation for the squad. Whether the active pre-season will have a positive effect on the team, we are yet to find out. Though I’m sure as fans we hope to see a revitalised squad when the competitive football starts.
