Following last nights 3-2 Extra Time victory over The Seasiders, Norwich boss Peter Grant spoke to the press about the game and the prospect of facing Chelsea on Saturday…

“All credit to Blackpool, they kept coming back at us. There was a lot of effort from both sides but over the two games, we just about shaded through in terms of the quality that Darren Huckerby has got

He was probably the only player on the pitch who could have pulled off a performance – and two goals – like that. He hasn’t done enough of that this season and i’ve been on at him in past weeks to up his game, there’s no doubt in my mind that is what separated the two teams tonight“.

Blackpool just kept on coming back at Norwich, showing bulldog spirit that has been missing in recent seasons.

The legs had gone a bit towards the end and the lads were looking tired,” Grant said with regards to the Norwich players.

“There were a few players making their comebacks tonight and it showed, I could have taken 4 of them off, but they kept going.”

We all know cup ties are about winning. In my own heart, I feel sorry for Blackpool, but i’m obviously delighted to be through.”

Over the two games they played exceptionally well and played in the the proper manner, giving us a tough 2 ties, but i’m pleased to be through”.

Norwich’s form has been dismal of late, but Grant was quick to dispel claims that it was a big win in their season.

We’ve won two games on the bounce with some big performances – not classic – but big performances through their [the players’] effort and commitment. I think in the end [tonight] we just shaded it in terms of quality.”

The Premiership Champions are the hosts for the Canaries this saturday thanks to their victory, but Grant is unphased by facing the ‘big boys’.

We know it’s a tough place to goo to, but we’re not going to go there and put a white flag up, that’s for sure”.
