The Squad – Three games in

Two losses, one draw and one goal scored, 270 minuets of football – What have we learned about the squad and importantly the new players. (ordered by squad numbers)

Paul Rachubka – No doubt the number 1. Gilks`s appearance in goal against Macclesfield didn`t help the former Norwich stopper. Nutmeged for the first goal and on walkabouts for the second. No change from last season for Rabs.

Danny Coid – Still injury prone, with Shaun Barker out Danny`s started all three games but limped out on Saturday with another knock.

Stephen Crainey – Injured

Keith Southern – Plenty of passion from Keith but it boiled over with the sending off against Macclesfield. He should still walk straight back into the side ahead of Fox.

Marlon Broomes – No appearances so far, behind Evatt and Edwards in the pecking order.

Ian Evatt – Still no luck in front of goal for Evo, needs to step up this season to take over the responsibility of organising of the back four, a job that Jackson did so well.

Adam Hammill – The new Wes, bursting with pace and skill. Will we be able to keep hold of him for more than 6 months? He`s going to win us plenty of games this season by winning free kicks but frustrate with wayward shots and runs into deadends.

Stephen McPhee – Injured

Stuart Green – Still not good enough to start, we`re only going to see him play if the plague sets in.

David Vaughan – Small, but looks good on the ball, at the moment it`s hard to see where he fits into the side. Does Larry know that Hammill is only going to be here for 6 months?

Gary Taylor-Fletcher – No change from last season for Fletch, apart from he played a full 90 minuets against Norwich!

David Fox – Behind the pecking order for starting in midfield. Now has direct competition from Jermaine Wright.

Alex Baptiste – Looks like back up again for Evatt / Edwards

Claus Bech Jørgensen – No change from last season, may be forced out of the starting line up if David Vaughan comes good.

Jermaine Wright – A slightly bigger and stronger David Fox, hopefully some of his experience will start to come through.

Joe Martin – Still very inexperienced and still not sure of his best position. At left back he seems flustered and too light weight.

Steve Kabba – Injured so far, only 2 minutes on the pitch, when he came to the club everyone from Watford noted about the lack of goals and confidence, has this injury put another delay on us seeing the best of Kabba?

Mohammed Camara – Solid enough but a temporary fix until Crainey is fit.

Matthew Gilks – As mentioned looks like the number two for the season unless Paul Rachubka gets injured or suspended.

Zesh Rehman – Looked good upfront against Macclesfield but he could find himself starting against Sheffield Untied at right back covering for the injured Coid. A very good player who’s not been able to hold down starting place in recent years.

Daniel Nardiello – Injured

Rob Edwards – Nothing spectacular so far but looks solid, hopefully he`ll come into his own with a few more games under his belt.

Shaun Barker – Injured

Sone Aluko – Quick, skillful but not enough experience to play at the Championship yet.

Ben Burgess – Still a little hit and miss for some, but he`s scored our only goal so far. He`ll score 10-15 goals this season no problem, but it with that little extra pace, ability to attack the ball, response time it could be 20 +

Remember we`ve started the season without 4 players that would be starting game, Crainey, McPhee, Nardiello and Barker. Considering that the start hasn`t been too bad. I still think we are missing that one player, ……..that number 9.
