The Tumbling trio

At the start of the season Pool were favourites for the drop along with Colchester and Scunthorpe. Well, two out of three ain`t bad for the bookies!

Blackpool deservedly stayed up at the expense of the expected downfall of Colchester and Scunthorpe and the unexpected demise of Leicester City.

Who would have thought after our opening day triumph at the Walkers that the Foxes would be dropping out of the Championship six months later.

Of course there are many reasons why Leicester has endured such a miserable season. Having three different managers` smacks of trouble at the top. Enter Milan Mandaric. The chairman of Leicester has overseen the arrival and swift departures of Martin Allen, Gary Megson and Ian Holloway. The smart money is on the latter to be seeking alternative employment soon despite signing a three year contract in November.

The Foxes have also used over 30 players this season. Changes in the manager`s seat equals changes on the playing field equals inconsistency all round equals relegation disaster.

Simon Grayson will no doubt have shed a tear for his old club, where he was and still is a legend. Thankfully the fate of Leicester has not befallen the Tangerines.

So how will Leicester, Colchester and Scunthorpe fare in League One? The good news for Scunthorpe and Colchester fans is that both clubs have experience of that level of football and so I would suggest both would be hoping for a play-off spot.

But Leicester`s destiny is harder to predict. How will Mandaric and the 30,000 Foxes fans react when they visit Hereford and Hartlepool? Adapting to life in the lower leagues can be tough, just ask Bradford, Nottingham Forest etc.

So while Colchester, Scunthorpe and Leicester contemplate life outside the Championship, Larry and co have much work to do over the summer to ensure we are not in a similar predicament in 12 months time. I have every confidence that we won`t be.
