The KC Stadium – ‘Ull City

As soon as I hear the words KC I don`t think of the ground where football and egg chasers alike call home in ‘Ull, I think of the Sunshine band and a string of 70`s & 80`s hits in that poppy era.

How to get there

From the West:

M55, M6 South, M61 then eventually on to the M62 East. Approach Hull on the M62, then join the A63. Once beyond the Humber Bridge and past St Andrews Quay, leave the A63 when you see the footbridge over the dual carriageway. Follow the sliproad towards a roundabout and take the second major exit for Rawling Way. Head down Rawling Way then turn left onto Anlaby Road at the traffic lights in front of the hospital and go over the flyover. Turn right at the traffic lights into Walton Street.

For the Virgin lovers amongst us – the Stadium is 15 minutes walk from Hull Paragon station. Leave the train station on the South side and turn right onto Anlaby Road. The stadium is about 15 minutes walk away straight along Anlaby Road.

The Ground

Now Boothferry Park that was what you would call a football ground. 50000+ could stand on what has always been one of the least friendly grounds in the leagues. Ull City have had numerous homes over the years but not let`s not take away from the new ground. With a capacity of 25000+ and built at a cost of over £40million (not unlike the £400k being quoted by KO earlier this week) the ground bears no resemblance to ours. Totally enclosed the West stand is twice the size of the other 3 and with the roof of this rising up and curving round the stadium lives up to it`s looks. A sports bar is avaialbale to members only (ring any bells KO?) and the ground wouldn`t be out of place in the Prem.
We`ll be sat behind a goal in the North Stand. Room for 4000 here but I`ll expect around 900-1100 to make the journey. Set a little way back from the pitch the view is still good.

Where to drink

Not known for welcoming away fans most pubs around the ground are designated as home fans only. Other than drinking inside the ground expect a decent walk to -THe
Hayworth Arms located on the Cott Road/Bev Road/Clough Road cross junction. Other fans recommend the Sandringham near to the main train station.


Plod & Stewards

The OB will be fairly low key but the stewarding here isn`t the best. Added to the group of homers who will be doing nothing but baiting us all game the new stadium is still struggling to shake off the welcoming hospitality that we all loved back at the old ground.

‘Ull have moved up the league since providing us with a winning way on national tv earlier on in the season. With some many ex players in our squad I`m hoping they have a point to prove and that Saturday brings us home as with a smile on our face & 3 points in the bag – I hope so because??Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo, Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo, That’s the way,(aha aha) I like it, That’s the way, (aha aha) I like it.
