Following the game against Brentford where Tommy Wright saw red after two bookable offences the official site asked him for his views.
‘I didn’t think I deserved to be sent off. The referee booked me for my first tackle of the game and the second challenge I’ve simply gone up for a header. I won the header, and having played on for a couple of seconds the referee saw their lad on the floor and blew up for elbowing.
‘The referee’s report says that the first challenge was a violent tackle, but there was nothing malicious about it at all. I was looking to slide in and clear the ball but I just clipped the player. I didn’t even feel the second incident. I think the player knew I could have been sent off and therefore made a meal of it. I felt quite sharp up until the sending off but obviously with an hour still to play I knew it was going to mean hard work for the lads.’
