Two on the Bounce Away for ‘Pool?

Travelling to Ipswich has never been a thing The Seasiders have looked forward to. In seven visits (yes, we’ve only been there seven times) ‘Pool have never come away with all three points, losing four.

However, after the breathtaking 3-0 demolition of Middlesbrough on Tuesday night Ian Holloway’s side must think they can beat anybody.

The away form has been heavily criticised from press and supporters this season but there is a feeling the team may have turned a corner away from Bloomfield Road.

Ipswich’s home form hasn’t been great, picking up just one win. They have drawn seven times though – losing twice – so trying to pick up another victory on the road will prove tricky.

Vital Quotes:

After Rob Edwards’ injury on Tuesday night, Ian Holloway talks about his possible selection: ‘The cut is in an awkward spot because it’s over the eye and if you’re a centre half you need to head the ball a lot.

‘It needs five and ten days to actually knit together properly. Is Saturday too early? I don’t know. I’m sure he’ll tell me he is fine but I’ll have to have a look at it.’

Holloway was also asked by the East Anglian press about Town manager Roy Keane: ‘Roy was phenomenal. He has those eyes. It’s like a shark. When you look in a shark’s eye you never know whether he is going to buy you a drink or eat you, and Roy is exactly the same.

‘He can be scary when you’ve got to mark him. He scored three against me and all I could see was his shorts running away from me. It was the scariest thing ever. I did have a bad groin but I felt like I was carrying an anvil trying to chase him.’

Ipswich Town Team News:

Defender Alex Bruce is definitely out of the game with a groin injury.

The Tractor Boys are hoping that winger Lee Martin will be fit enough to face Blackpool.

Player to watch: Tamas Priskin

The big Hungarian striker will provide the Seasiders’ defence problems with his physical presence and pace.

Although he’s only scored one goal in the league so far after a summer move to Ipswich, he is normally the type of striker which can be the thorn in ‘Pool’s side.

Blackpool Team News:

Danny Coid is apparently in line for a call up to the bench for the first time this campaign after injury.

The usual suspects are injured, minus Coid, and it’s touch and go whether or not Rob Edwards will make it.

Ben Burgess and Billy Clarke are out but their injuries aren’t at bad as first feared.

Matt Gilks is expected to come back in between the sticks, unless Ollie is bluffing!

Player to watch: Charlie Adam

The central midfielder stole the show on Tuesday night at the Riverside. He needs to be more consistant for me and on a big expansive pitch he could thrive.

With Owen Garvan beginning to be played by Roy Keane, we could expect a battle between the two of them.

I predicted a sound victory for Town. Was very surprised that your gaffer left Charlie Adams on the bench…..He got his tactics all wrong . Saying that , it will be a much tighter match when we meet on the 2nd of January….
