Blackpool secured a 4-1 win over Newport in League 2 on Saturday.
A penalty miss from struggling Newport proved crucial as Blackpool survived this before going swiftly going ahead for the second time, eventually running out comfortable winners.
Brad Potts finished off Jack Payne’s cross to put Blackpool ahead after only four minutes, however Newport were level midway through the half when Rhys Healey scored for the visitors.
Newport could have gone ahead on the hour but Sean Rigg’s penalty was saved by Blackpool keeper Sam Slocombe with Payne restoring the Pools lead shortly after as the Exiles literally paid the penalty.
Late goals from Kyle Vassell and Kelvin Mellor, his on 83 minutes, sealed the points for Pools.
