Aston Villa are likely to allow an extension of Barry Bannan’s loan deal at Blackpool…

…that’s according to the editor of Vital Villa!

The teenage midfielder has been in sparkling form for the Seasiders since joining the club in November.

This led to Ian Holloway landing the Villan until the end of the season but on the last day of the transfer window Martin O’Neill changed the duration to just an extra month, given the Premiership sides’ injury worries.

Jonathan Fear, the editor of our sister site Vital Villa, said:‘Barry Bannan is definitely one of those who seem very fancied by the Villa set up, he isn’t on loan because he is due to be shipped out as far as I can see, more to get him first team experience, something he possibly isn’t quite ready for in the Premiership.

We do seem to be picking up a number of injuries at the moment with the likes of Marc Albrighton (another youth player) having bad luck in his debut v Brighton & Hove Albion, plus Nigel Reo-Coker who would usually step straight into the team if an injury occurs, who is out following a training ground injury! However despite also selling Craig Gardner (another who came in when players were injured but usually not if the squad were fit) I would say we still have enough cover at the moment without the need to re-call BB.

Anymore drop outs in the midfield and maybe that situation will change but we do have Steve Sidwell sitting on the bench and even though he hasn’t impressed since his move from Chelsea, he is an experienced midfielder if Stiliyan Petrov ever needs a rest, something Martin O’Neill seems loathed to give him due to the skippers form.

So at the moment, I’d say you were pretty safe Bannan wise!’

not sure if that means they’ll allow an extension mind you, that will be down to the Villa set up and options etc, but unless we get a real crisis, don’t think he is likley to feature for us this season. I’ve been known to be wrong just the once or twice though!
