Crawley’s recent run of form would dictate that League 2 leaders Doncaster – who won for a first time in six last time round – will go away with the points. Should Rovers manage this with title rivals Plymouth and Carlisle facing each other the advantage over one – if not both – would be extended.
Having lost just once in seven Accrington have found some form when they need it. Stanley have managed just the two wins in this period though ahead of the visit from Barnet. If the Bees are to maintain a play-off push a win – having failed to do so in the last three – is a near must.
Blackpool – who have developed a habit of drawing – and Morecambe will still remain outside hopes of finishing in the top seven but the gap is probably too much for either to make up.
When Cambridge saw a three game unbeaten run end the play-off hopes were damaged too. Colchester also lost their last game but are just a couple of points away from the top seven ahead of this meeting at the Abbey Stadium.
Three successive wins has moved Cheltenham clear of trouble but the Robins will want another against Mansfield. The Stags head to Whaddon Road having lost just once in the last 10 to sit a point and a place off the play-offs.
Grimsby and Wycombe are equal on point and both five off the play-offs ahead of this crucial meeting at Blundell Park. The Chairboys’ draw in the last game ended a run of five successive defeats with the Mariners winning two of the last three.
An emphatic win – a first in seven – for Hartlepool lifted Pools six points clear of relegation danger. Confidence should have been boosted ahead of the visit from promotion chasing Exeter. The Grecians are unbeaten in four – but have won just once – to sit four points off an automatic promotion spot.
Bottom of the league Newport – nine points from safety – welcome second bottom Leyton Orient – who are six points adrift – to Rodney Parade in a massive relegation battle. The winner would boost their chances – Orient more so – but if there is a loser they’ll move closer to dropping out of the Football League.
Plymouth’s four game winless run has seen their title bid suffer. Carlisle have won three and lost three of their last six ahead of this trip to Home Park. The promotion rivals are both out of sorts and at risk of being caught by the chasing pack with the three points on offer potentially crucial.
A late equaliser in midweek prevented Portsmouth from moving into the automatic promotion places. Due to the Plymouth-Carlisle meeting should that end in a draw and Pompey beat Crewe – who have lost their last two – they could move above the Cumbrians into third.
Stevenage’s six wins in a seven game unbeaten run has taken them into the play-offs. Boro will face a challenge from Notts County as an unbeaten five game run has taken the Magpies clear of relegation trouble.
Having won just once in the last 10 Yeovil welcome promotion chasing Luton – who are unbeaten in five – to Huish Park looking to give the home fans something to cheer. The Hatters know a win could close the four points between them and the top three.
It goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.
