Blackpool’s League 1 season continued with a defeat against Coventry at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

With the season having 10-matches to play Blackpool remain in the bottom four following a one-nil defeat at Coventry; with another relegation very much on as the Sky Blues ended a four-match losing run against Pools.

Coventry opened the scoring, with what proved to be the winner in fact, through Marc-Antoine Fortune on 26-minutes when he made the most of ‘keeper Colin Doyle’s mistake to finish from close range.

Defeat extended the winless Blackpool run to seven-matches with us two-points from safety.

These were the other results.

Saturday 12th March 2016
Barnsley 0-2 Southend
Blackpool 0-1 Coventry
Bradford 2-1 Doncaster
Burton 2-1 Fleetwood
Chesterfield 1-4 Walsall
Colchester 3-3 Wigan
Gillingham 3-0 Crewe
Peterborough 2-3 Port Vale
Rochdale 3-0 Bury
Sheff Utd 3-0 Oldham
Shrewsbury 2-2 Scunthorpe
Swindon 2-2 Millwall

A reaction Burton (two-one) needed saw them react in a positive way to defeat last time round with a win over Fleetwood, who know they remain in relegation trouble but with (against a side almost certain to go down now) Wigan (three-three) dropped points at Colchester so this saw the Brewers extend their lead of the Latics.

Gillingham (three-nil) needed a win and they got it to revive the automatic promotion hopes whereas Crewe remain very much in danger of going down – Oldham (three-nil) could well join them with a heavy defeat suffered at Sheffield United, who helped their play-off chances.

A Walsall (four-one) win was also needed and they got it at Chesterfield so the Saddlers’ hopes of finish in the top two were improved with the Spireites still in serious relegation trouble as are Blackpool (one-nil) with them losing to play-off chasing Coventry.

Barnsley’s (two-nil) own bid for a play-off chances were dealt a blow when rivals for this Southend went away from Oakwell with the points with that helping the Shrimpers’ chances with Bradford (two-one) also profiting with a win over Doncaster at Valley Parade to keep Donny in trouble of dropping into League 2.
