Blackpool’s League 1 season continued with a defeat against Swindon at the County Ground on Saturday.

Due a late goal, with Blackpool losing out in this five-goal thriller, Pools slipped to a three-two loss at Swindon in a game that had seen us ahead before coming from behind to level only to be denied by Nicky Ajose’s goal to complete his hat-trick late on.

Tom Aldred headed Blackpool into a second-minute lead but it wasn’t too long before Ajose levelled for Swindon with it remaining one-all at the break.

Ajose’s second, just past the hour, saw Swindon from behind to lead but Danny Philliskirk made it all-squad when he scored after Clark Robertson had been fouled to see Blackpool have a penalty.

This potentially precious point was taken from Pools late on when Ajose, not only to complete his hat-trick but grab his fifth-goals in his last two-matches, won it on 88-minutes.

These were the other results.

We’ll see the leaders in action on Monday but from the chasing pack only Wigan (two-one) profited with them looking a good bit for a top two finish by winning at promotion rivals Walsall.

Gillingham (two-one) suffered a surprise defeat to Oldham at Boundary Park but this win has helped boost the Latics’ own survival hopes with Fleetwood (two-one) doing likewise with a win against in-form Scunthorpe at the Highbury Stadium.

It’s looking bleak for Colchester (five-two) at the foot of the table now though isn’t it with a lead lost in a heavy defeat at Gigg Lane to Bury leaving the U’s looking a near certainty to drop into League 2 now you feel?
