Neal Eardley has been called up to the Wales squad to face Russia on Wednesday night.

The right back, who has started his Blackpool career brilliantly after a move from Oldham in the summer, played for the Under 21’s last evening against Italy before joining up with the seniors.

With Wales not having a fixture tonight, it seemed a good opportunity for John Toshack to give some more game time to his U21 stars, who include Aaron Ramsey and Jack Collison.

David Vaughan misses out on international duty – probably due to injury.

In other news, playmaker Charlie Adam admitted he’d be ‘honoured’ if George Burley came knocking for his services.

The Scot, who has also began life at Bloomfield Road in good form, said ‘I love playing for my country and if a call comes I’d be honoured.’
