Where are they now?

The giant Nigerian centre half became an instant fans favourite at Bloomfield road in a hugely successful loan stint back in the 2000/2001 promotion season.

In 19 appearances for Pool, Danny scored twice to help Pool secure a play off spot. Sadly Shittu had to watch in the stands of the Millennium Stadium as the Seasiders thumped Leyton Orient 4-2 in a thrilling final. Danny did join the triumphant players on the pitch for the award ceremony and collected his winner`s medal in his suit.

Danny signed for QPR on a permanent basis during the summer of 2001. The big defender spent five seasons at Loftus road, scoring 15 goals in over 150 appearances for the London club.

In 2006 Shittu left Rangers but stayed in his native London to sign for Watford.

Danny was the mainstay of the Watford defence last season that suffered relegation from the Premier League.

This season the man mountain already has nine goals to his name, including one against Norwich last Tuesday, as the Hornets push for promotion back to the promised land.

Shittu played for his country Nigeria in the recent Africa Cup of Nations.

The likeable centre back is still only 28 years old and at 6ft 3in, Shittu is a real powerhouse in both penalty boxes. He will doubtless play in the rich league again very soon.

Danny made a huge impression on the Pool faithful in his brief but brilliant loan spell with the club. His arrival coincided with Pool`s late push for the play offs, resulting in glory in Cardiff.

Thanks a lot big Dan for the memories and we`ll see you in May back at Bloomers!
