Where are they now?

Wright signed for Pool on loan back in August 2005 from Leicester. His first goal in Tangerine came against Hartlepool at Bloomfield Road in September when he lobbed the keeper from the left touch line – quite a memorable moment!

Tommy proved to be a successful loan signing, scoring six goals in ten league starts for the Seasiders, including one in Simon Grayson`s first game as permanent manager, the 5-2 demolition of Scunthorpe in front of the TV cameras at Bloomfield Road in November 2005.

But just two months later Tommy joined Barnsley in a permanent switch. Despite the Tykes winning promotion to the Championship, Wright found first team opportunities limited.

The striker went out on loan to Walsall scoring two goals in five starts for the Saddlers. That prompted interest from League Two Darlington, and the rest as they say is history!

Wright has been something of a revelation at Darlington as he tops the scoring charts with 14 goals this term with Darlington occupying fourth place in League Two. They have an outside chance of winning automatic promotion and already look at least assured of their current play off spot.

Tommy scored some good goals in a short spell at the Seaside. It was a turbulent time for the club when Wright was in the team with Colin Hendry departing leaving Simon Grayson with the task of saving the Seasiders from relegation.

Wright appears to have found his club at Darlington and his goal scoring exploits should see his side gain promotion to League One.
