Where are they now?

The much travelled cockney striker began his career in his home city of London for Millwall. During the early years of Scott’s career he spent time on loan at various clubs, noteably at Pool in the 1997/98 season, scoring once in 5 appearances.

Scottie eventually moved to the North West permanently, signing for Tranmere Rovers. At Prenton park, Taylor scored 22 goals in three seasons.

Steve McMahon then snapped Scott up and took him to the Seaside, where Taylor bagged over 40 goals. Scott’s most impressive season was undoubtedly the 2003/04 term, in which he found the back of the net 20 times before Christmas! Will there ever be a Pool striker who achieves that feat again?

However, Taylor moved on, citing personal reasons for the move back down South to Plmouth Argyle. The Devonians shelled out over £100,000 on the forward, which, considering Pool took him for nothing, was a decent deal for the club.

Scott didn’t quite cut it at Champonship level with the Pilgrims and after a brief loan spell at Brentford, Martin Allen took Taylor to the National Hockey Stadium (lucky you Scott!).

Scott remains at MK Dons, now under the management of Paul Ince. Having just reached the age of 30, Scott must be wondering how many years he has left in the professional game.

Taylor has certainly been a journeyman through the football league. His time at Bloomfield Road was arguably his most successful. He scored the fourth goal in Pool’s 4 – 1 win over Cambridge in the first LDV win at the Millenium Stadium.

Most Pool fans will remember Scott for that magical period when he bagged 20 goals before we could tuck into our roast turkey’s on Christmas day.

When I think of Scott, I will always think of his goals against Birmingham in the Carling Cup win against the Premier League side at Bloomers. Equally, I will never forget his goal at Fratton Park against Pompey in the FA Cup 3rd round a few years ago, right infront of the thousands of Pool fans.

All the best for the future Scott, but do find yourself a ‘club’ rather than stay at MK Dons!
