Wotte’s Wrong With Him?!

Southampton boss Mark Wotte was not a happy man following the 1-1 draw between his side and Blackpool on Saturday.

The Dutchman was fuming at the award of a first half penalty to The Seasiders (which I must say was very dubious), saying ‘I don’t want to say something about the referee but I don’t think it was in our favour and for the penalty the boys were absolutely 100 per cent sure that it wasn’t one.’

‘I did not think it was a penalty. It was ridiculous. It took the referee two or three seconds to take the decision, which is never good because a referee’s first instinct is usually the best one.’

He wasn’t finished there, either. Wotte laid blame on the Bloomfield Road pitch as well; ‘I think it wasn’t our best game in the first half. We had to get ourselves adapted to the pitch which was horrible.’

He eventually finished his rant by stating that he wasn’t sure how the point would effect his side in their battle against relegation.

‘We got something out of this game though and deserved at least a point, so we will see at the end of the season if it’s a valuable point or not.

‘We are on a good run and I know we needed three points but I cannot judge right now if we lost two points or if we won one today.’

The facts remain that they are seven points behind us and in 23rd place.

To be fair, he’s got a point on all accounts! The strip down the middle of your pitch is terrible and the penalty was VERY soft and dubious. Still, after being 1 down at half-time I would have taken a point. Next up for us is Charlton at St Mary’s. If ever there was a must-win game, then that is it!
