Neil McDonald was again forced to wait for his first home win as Blackpool boss as he watched his side draw 1-1 with Barnsley.
Pool started the game very poorly and were behind on 8 minutes when Conor Hourihane’s effort ended up in the back of the net.
It was a lackluster first half display from the Tangerines and they failed to generate much going forward with Barnsley certainly performing better.
Though the second half was a much different story for McDonald’s men and they managed to get going after the break. Kwame Thomas and Jack Redshaw replaced Jose Cubero and Henry Cameron.
Pool equalised on 55 minutes when Brad Potts’ neat pass allowed Redshaw to fire the ball past keeper Townsend and bring the score level.
Both teams could of found a winner late on. Colin Doyle was forced to make a decent save from a Hourihane effort though it was Blackpool who had the better opportunities to win the game.
First, Mark Cullen beat the goalkeeper to the ball before attempting to square it to Thomas, only for the defender to beat him to it.
Though it was Jack Redshaw who had the best chance to win the game, only to be denied by a superb bit of goalkeeping from Townsend in the Barnsley goal.
The game finished 1-1 but the point was not enough to prevent Pool from going bottom of the league again.
McDonald’s men do look an improved side from the games at the start of the season but the side has to start delivering wins at home against teams such as Barnsley if relegation is to be avoided.
