6 Points. It Can’t Can It?

Well, what a day Saturday was!! Even though I said that we’d win, I never really meant it, and now I can see us going to Griffin Park to face the bee’s and winning (no, really!). A pleasure to be at the game against Swansea, with a great buzz about Bloomers, and not a bad defencive performance either.

A new challenge awaits on bank holiday Monday though. The players have to forget the weekend, and fully concentrate on getting one point plus against Martin Allen’s men.

Vital Quotes:

Simon Grayson, talking on the official site, on David Fox’s injury: ‘He went over on his ankle on Thursday in training and could be out for the rest of the season.’

He went onto say: ‘This provides an oppuruntiy for the likes of Neil Wood to be on the bench like today (against Swansea).’

Brentford Team News:

Brentford will again be without Kevin O’Connor and Oli Skulason through injury. It looks likely that Martin Allen will keep the same team to that which drew to Rotherham on Saturday, due to their injuries not improving.

Out: Kevin O’Connor (Ankle)
Oli Skulason (Knee)

Player to watch: Lloyd Owusu

The big powerful centre forward is the Bee’s top scorer this season since the departure of DJ Campbell to Birmingham in January. The travelled striker has 13 goals to his name this season, and will be looking to add to that in Brentford’s bid for promotion. He has recently scored 3 goals in 4 matches. This is his second spell as a bee. In his first, he notched up 64 league goals before moving to Sheffield Wednesday on a free.

Funnily, he was born in Slough, but is of Ghanian nationality and recieved his first call up in 2005.

Blackpool Team News:

After failing fitness tests against Swansea, John Murphy and Keith Lasley are expected to make their comebacks. They will only make the bench, as it is widely expected Simon Grayson will keep faith in the XI that started against The Swans. The long absentees are still out. Andy Taylor isn’t going to be fit.

Out: Danny Coid (Ankle)
Phil Doughty (Leg)
Andy Taylor

Player to watch: Peter Clarke

I for one are quick to criticise the club captain, but he was magnificent on Saturday, and hopefully he can reproduce that, along with Edwards, against another tasty front two.

Match Facts & Stats

A bore draw in October as we drew 0-0 at Bloomfield Road.

Ref Watch:

C Penton from Sussex with I Gosling and K Yeo as his assistants. S Cook is the fourth official.

Games: 35 Yellow Cards: 111 Red Cards: 9
He seems to be card happy, so Clarke and Parker will have to watch out!

Match Prediction:

I’d love to take 6 points from the easter period, but I see it as highly unlikely (although that contadicts what I said above!!). My point is that I think we can win, and I go into it with confidence, but can’t really see us producing the same performance as Saturday. A 1-1 draw with Keigan Parker and Jay Tabb scoring is my prediction. I’m usually wrong……
