The 90 are up. The time added on is up, but the corner is taken and the substitute Keiron Richardson scores a goal and it’s extra time. No, not a made up scenario, but reality.

When luck is not with you, that’s what happens. Seconds to go to hold on and brave Blackpool have defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.

A first half that saw Blackpool sustain periods of pressure, then saw a better performance second half with the Seasiders getting chances. The need for a finisher again clear to see on a day DJ, the nearly man, seems to be heading to Crystal Palace. But a good hearted display was rewarded with a Delfouneso goal.

The 4th round seemed in grasp. It was disbelief when Richardson struck.

And so extra time. Blackpool rose to the challenge, enjoying a greater a,out of ball time, until Hangeland headed from the dreaded set piece.

With no reason to feel downbeat, the players diverted the past few weeks events and gave it their best. Ecclestone deserved a start, but clearly has a way to go yet.

Hopefully things off the field will improve as we head to the weekend and table toppers Cardiff await.
