We look at the head-to-head record between ourselves and Saturday’s opponents QPR.

Games: 23
QPR Wins: 13
Blackpool Wins: 3
Draws: 7

Who can forget the 5-0 drumming Steve McMahon’s Blackpool side of 2003 got from QPR on the opening day of that season?

Yes, The Seasiders played in the unbearable heat sporting a black away strip – someone was clearly very bright when choosing that!

On that day the likes of Kirk Hilton, Leam Richardson, Chris Clarke and Steve Davis were picked. On Saturday Jason Euell, David Vaughan and Charlie Adam are likely to take the field. That in itself shows how far we’ve come in just over five years.

Interestingly a certain Richard Langely scored for Rangers that day, and a fortnight ago wasn’t deemed good enough to earn a contract at Bloomfield Road.

The defeat on that sunny August day followed a definite pattern of results between the two sides. Before Simon Grayson’s men beat QPR in 2007 through an injury-time Ben Burgess striker, the last time North overcame South was in the old second division – 1972.

‘Pool have never won at Loftus Road, despite playing against their hosts since 1967. What better time to start than with a win in new manager Ian Holloway’s first game in charge.
