The big winner in this week`s poll with 44% was Latvian millionaire Valeri Belokon. Since we at VitalFootball broke the news to you first that Belokon was to get involved with the club, he has been instated as president of Blackpool Football Club, saying he wants the club in the top flight of English football within five years. It`s be a turbulent year for the club, as the starting eleven very nearly got relegated last season. Off the pitch however, the club has gone from strength to strength. Despite divided opinion on ‘Pool`s new president, there can be no arguments when talking about the calibre of player Blackpool are attracting to Bloomfield Road. Would Andy Morrell, Ian Evatt, Shaun Barker, Wes Hoolahan and company have been signed without the Latvian influence? I`ll leave that up to you?
Despite the ground sell out coming last in the poll, this is perhaps the most significant option of all four. The club had failed to sell the new stands out until Boxing Day 2006 when Carlisle United made the trip to Bloomers. This was four years and shows how far the side have come in a short space of time. It also shows the Blackpool public will come back in their droves with even a hint of success.
Current manager, Simon Grayson came second in the poll, with 44% of the vote. The former ‘Pool player took on the reigns at the back end of 2005 when Colin Hendry was sacked, but it has only been recently that Larry has properly proved his worth, with The Seasiders sitting in 7th spot in League One and in the hat for the 5th round of the FA Cup. Fans, like myself, were calling for his head back in August. How glad I was wrong!
Wes Hoolahan on his own managed to attract 15%. This just shows what an impact he`s had on Blackpool fans. Hoolahan had the national press purring after his recent performance at home to Norwich City in the FA Cup and proved that he could cut it against higher opposition. Teams such as Sunderland have been reportedly interested in the Irish winger. His loan spell ends at the end of the season and speculation ahs linked him with a permanent move to Bloomfield Road.

Can’t argue with the buys so far, but with failing in the casino bid, it’ll be interesting to see VB’s next move…
Thing is though the poll didn’t ask whether or not we think VB has invested money into the club or not as that would no doubt have had a far different poll result. The poll merely asked what people think is the best thing to come out of 2006. Perhaps many fans believe that simply by being here VB has changed the face of the club. That has nothing to do though with whether or not he has invested 1p, nothing or £1.5M a year or whatever.
Excuse me? Can we stick to the script please? The true test of VB’s involvement starts now…let’s deal in facts not innuendo!!!!!

VB and KO have become private men so don’t diclose anything. Now that is a fact . So if nothing can be proved there is no fact.
If any one can tell me what’s happened to alleged Latvian millions please do. It’s a little like the Bret money is it not.
