We discuss the results of the latest fan’s poll.

Over the past week we have asked the forum members if they would have been happy with Steve Thompson becoming manager (obviously this was asked before Ian Holloway took over!).

Just 27% said that they would be, stating that he knows the club and the players inside out.

Meanwhile, 73% stated that they would not, believing that the club needed someone more experienced… presumably those people are quite happy with the appointment of Holloway!

However, several forum members remarked that they would happily see Thommo take over somewhere down the line when he has more experience under his belt. Certainly, chairman Karl Oyston has hinted at this, saying how working with Holloway will arm Thommo with certain attributes that he currently does not possess.

In today’s Blackpool Gazette, Thommo states that he is pleased to be part of the new management team, despite not knowing Holloway that well.

He remarks that Holloway ‘has some terrific ideas and hopefully we can put them into practice and keep taking this club forward like we all want to do.’

Indeed, Thommo himself admits that he will looking to learn from Holloway:

‘I’ve a guy alongside me now in Ian who has managed some big clubs so I’ll be learning off him because as a coach you never stop learning.

‘I think he’ll be picking my brains regarding things that have happened at Blackpool FC and I’ll be obviously more than pleased to help where I can.

‘Of course I still harbour the ambition to be a number one. That’s only natural. That’s why I went for the manager’s job in the first place.

‘But that doesn’t mean I’m a threat to anyone. I’m here and I’ll be working hard as Ian’s number two.

‘I’ll be giving it 110 per cent. I know he expects that from his staff and he will get it from me.’

This week’s poll examines who people believe in the Oyston v Parkes saga, an issue that Thommo admits he is concerned about:

‘We thought we had seen the rollercoaster ride with Simon, but then obviously with Tony leaving it happened again.

‘It was a big disappointment the way it was handled, shall we say, and what has happened.’
