On the pitch:
Two away games and one point to show for it. On Tuesday Blackpool went down 1-0 at Reading. However, the visitors were excellent despite Lee Hendrie’s first half red card. Paul Rachubka saved a late Stephen Hunt penalty while Pool should have had a spot kick of their own for a blatant handball.
A less convincing performance at the City ground yesterday did at least yield a point for the Seasiders in a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest. Again it was goalkeeper Rachubka who took the plaudits for Pool with another fine display this time rewarded with a clean sheet.

Off the pitch:
Injuries and suspensions suddenly kicked in during the week. Lee Hendrie will sit out another two games for Pool after his dismissal at Reading. But boss Simon Grayson is keen to extend Hendrie’s loan spell in the New Year.
Rob Edwards limped out of the action at the City Ground yesterday, however Ian Evatt, who missed the game through suspension, will come back into the side for the Swansea game.

Ian Harte signed on a month-to-month basis for Blackpool on Thursday. The former Leeds and Republic of Ireland left back will hope to force his way into the team in the coming weeks.

Better news on the injury front for long term absentees Jermaine Wright, Stephen Crainey and Steve McPhee. All three could be back in action during the festive period.

Just thought I would mention one of the best Pool left backs in the last decade or so – Tommy Jasczun. He was in action for Kettering Town in their FA Cup win over Notts County. Kettering are now into the third round. Good to see Tommy is still playing. With Hillsy in front of him, you couldn’t have wished for a better left sided combination.
