On the pitch

The Seasiders held high-flying Bristol City to a goalless draw at Ashton Gate yesterday. But with results elsewhere largely going against Tony Parkes’ side we find ourselves in 20th place going into the final 11 games of the season.

Reserves continue fine form

Blackpool reserves won 4-2 at Accrington on Wednesday afternoon. The returning Charlie Adam grabbed a brace, including a belter of a lob from just inside the Accrington half, with Danny Mitchley and fit-again Steve McPhee also on target.

Off the pitch

On the transfer front Marlon Broomes has extended his loan spell at League One side Crewe until the end of April. The defender has made five appearances for the Alex so far.

Meanwhile Watford`s Steve Kabba has moved on loan to League One side Oldham. The forward managed just two goals in his six month spell with the Seasiders earlier in the season.

Oyston speaks out

Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston met the press this week to discuss a whole range of issues.
The main points to come out from the interview were:

South stand delay

The new stand is unlikely to be ready for the start of next season. September could be a more likely opening – let`s hope we are still playing Championship football then. A supporters bar was also mentioned as a viable option in the South stand.

Money spent on agents’ fees

According to Oyston Blackpool has paid “a lot of money” on agents, breaking our usual stance of not paying them. It seems life in the Championship necessitates adaptation on and off the pitch – perish the thought!

Reduction in season ticket prices

The chairman has said that he will reduce season ticket prices next year after a large drop in attendances at Bloomfield Road this season.

Hoolahan, Blackpool and Livingston

Basically we won! Oyston has confirmed that Fifa have thrown out Livi`s case and so the matter is closed.

Best thread on the forum

The debate surrounding David Vaughan`s best position initiated by samholt53 was interesting, with some happy for him to remain on the left wing, whereas others have been calling for him to move inside to the centre of midfield. I think we have probably seen Vaughan`s better performances on the left of midfield, especially against Doncaster. I think he would benefit from playing alongside someone like Southern or Adam in the centre rather than Fox or Jorgensen.

Quick mention to former Blackpool ‘fans favourite` Adrian Forbes who bagged a brace for Grimsby last Tuesday. Sadly for Forbesy and co. it was in vain as Morecambe ran out 3-2 winners leaving the Mariners struggling close to the foot of League Two.

Blackpool face a huge week as we battle to survive in the Championship. Two massively important home games against local rivals Burnley and relegation threatened Norwich in five days could go a long way to deciding our fate this season. Let’s get right behind the boys in Tangerine and bag some points at Bloomfield Road.
