The Seasiders could complete a move for experienced right back Kevin McNaughton after he featured for Pool against Blyth Spartans. The 32 year old spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers and is available on a free transfer after his release from Cardiff City.
Pool are desperately short in the right back area and McNaughton would certainly be a positive acquisition should he complete a move to the seaside. His versatility means he can play across the back line which is something which could be very useful for manager Neil McDonald and his experience in the football league could benefit what is currently a very young Blackpool defence.
McDonald told the official site: ‘We need that bit of experience to pull and push and if we can get that it adds good balance and good dynamics to the team. We need lots of mobility in the team but at the same time a little bit of knowledge to know when to do things at the right time’. McNaughton would certainly add that experience to the squad and a decision is likely to be made over the weekend about whether he will be signed.
