Clarke, who first arrived at Bloomfield Road on loan from Everton signed on a permanent deal in 2004. Since then the central defender has cemented his place in the team and as a fans favourite.

So far this season Clarke has scored 5 goals and made over 40 starts this season alone.

In other contract news four youth players have been offered professional contracts at the club. Striker Sean Paterson, goalkeeper Lewis Edge, left-back Sean Clancy and defender Matt Lawlor have all signed one year deals with a view to an extra year.

But as ever with youth team football some players have been shown the door, Joe Abbott, Paul Parle, Cabbar Bagdagi, Kevin Brown, James Foran and Ryan Watson have all been released. Jonathan Goulding is yet to learn his future at the club due to injury, the teenager will be given time to recover and then prove himself.
