Channel 5 have announced broadcaster and presenter Colin Murray as their new face for the EFL season of 2017/18.
Murray will be the new main presenter for C5’s coverage of the Championship, League One and League Two highlights of a weekend and that will include highlight coverage of the League Cup and the EFL Trophy.
Murray comes to Channel 5 with a wealth of experience having presented for a decade on BBC Sport, Talksport and BBC 5 Live.
Some would say he’s got an entertaining style, others would say he’s opinionated and others may well hold a different opinion, but he certainly brings experience to C5’s coverage as they continue to try and find themselves in the highlights world given the tweaks and changes to their programming makeup over the years since they gained the rights to the EFL set up.
Speaking to efl.com Murray himself said of his appointment.
‘These clubs are the lifeblood of English football, and my radio shows have always focused on football outside of the top flight, both on and off the pitch. Football on 5 is going to be more about the action and the fans than ever before, focusing on what matters…goals on the pitch and community off it. It`ll be great to be a small part of that.’
He added.
‘I have a soft spot for a few EFL teams, but I don`t support any so there are no conflicts of interest! However, I do make sure I visit a few EFL grounds every season, because the experiences are so varied and different, plus the connection to the fans is often more special. I`m as excited to front a show that brings you the goals from The New Lawn as I am from Villa Park.’
The format has gone under a new refresh ahead of the coming season so I guess we’ll have to see what kind of programme it now becomes.
