Coidy’s class

Now in his testimonial year Danny truly is Blackpool through and through. He’s seen it all. Relegation, two promotions and two LDV wins at the Millennium stadium. And his quality has always shone through, well, when he’s not been injured.

Poor Coidy has had rotten luck with injuries over the years. Several times this season he has had a few weeks in the team, playing well, only for an injury to crop him for another week or two. Danny actually profited from an injury to Ian Evatt to step into the team at Bristol City last month. He has since been consistently good until picking up a knock at Barnsley on Saturday.

Despite his injury problems, you agree with Tony Parkes that Coid has great quality. In our poll 62 per cent of you reckon Danny should be a first team regular. And if it hadn’t been for the likes of Stephen Crainey and Shaun Barker over the last two years he surely would have been.

Danny certainly deserves a new contract in the summer to keep him at the club he loves. It’s not just his versatility that makes him so important. Danny’s a great passer of a ball and his experience can only help younger players on and off the pitch.

Let’s hope his injury picked up at the weekend isn’t too serious and we see Coidy in a Tangerine shirt again very soon.
