Bojan Djordjic has slammed the Daily Mail for an article published about his financial situation.

The 29-year-old was said to have been paid £90 a week by the Seasiders and needed to rely on former Manchester United team mate John O’Shea for money and accommodation.

Djordjic, who signed for Pool on a pay-as-you-play deal in the summer, said on his twitter:

‘Who is the source DAILY MAIL?? Who?? Of course u wouldnt write that cause i know and so do u who the person is! Writing a article and just putting source everybody knows that is a decent journalist that article is a lie!’ he said.

The midfielder joked about the Mail’s article, sarcastically tweeting: ‘Dissapointed Sunderland lost today cause John O´Shea promised me his win bonus!’

And today Djordjic said to Gazette journalist Will Watt that he thought the story was ’embarrassing’ for both the football club and his friend O’Shea.

‘They [Daily Mail] have stepped over the line by doing this. Only complaint PFA has is against the agents and u can phone them and check it out. Cant believe how low someone would go to take a honest, hardworking player down.

‘I havent missed one training session since i came which so another lie in that article that im always injured!’

It is understood that Djordjic is at odds with his agent over leaking the story and all quotes used were sourced from his personal twitter account @BojanDjordjic7
