Fenton passed away yesterday in Limerick which was his home for the past 40 years. He was born in Dundee on the 17 November 1929 and moved to the Pool from Lochee Harp FC in 1946.

In his time at Blackpool he made 222 League and Cup appearances managing 20 goals from right half. From Blackpool he went on to play for Wrexham and then Limerick as player-manager. He also managed at Linfield in Ireland.

While in Limerick he also set up a motoring school in 1965 which closed last year. Fenton will be remember along with the other players from the 1953 cup winning team who have away with each executive box in the Matthews Stand at Bloomfield Road being named after the starting eleven.
