Express journalist Matthew Dunn needs to give his head a shake this afternoon.
Dunn labelled the Seasiders’ stars ‘mercenary’ for their behaviour before collecting their medals on Saturday.
Dunn writes: ‘Those close by (to the players behind the Wembley steps) were shown just how mercenary players can be, even when they have completed the most remarkable rags-to-riches progression to the Premier League under boss Ian Holloway.
The singing players came out with a burst of ‘We are going up!’ followed by ‘We are Premier League!’ before it was superseded seconds later by a blast of ‘Get your cheques out for the lads’ – a reference to the £5million bonus pot agreed at the start of the season.’
What is your point, Mr Dunn?
He spends his whole working week debating whether Fernando Torres will stay at Liverpool for £80,000-a-week and then has the nerve to begrudge our players a £250,000 bonus when Premiership footballers earn that in a month.
The hypocrisy of the media is getting on my nerves already!
