In last nights 2nd round FA Cup replay, Aldershot Town overcame Basingstoke 3-1 to progress to the 3rd and play Blackpool.

Aldershot booked their place in the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history after falling behind to an early Basingstoke goal.
Matt Warner’s left-wing break set up the first goal of the game on four minutes when Neville Roach volleyed in.

But a near carbon-copy strike from Louie Soares set the visitors on track.

Soares was on hand to drill in a loose ball from a corner to give Aldershot the lead and a wonderful curling effort from Darren Barnard sealed the victory.

Boss Terry Brown hailed a ‘massive win for the club’ after Aldershot beat Basingstoke to reach the third round of the FA Cup for the first time.

Brown said: ‘It was a deja vu feeling when they took the lead so early on but I know that the boys have character.

‘It is a milestone for the club, and I have never been to the third round.’

He added: ‘I am looking forward to enjoying my Christmas lunch knowing that we have a match at Blackpool to look forward to.’

The match will be played at 15:00 on Saturday 6th January.
