The Daily Mail are reporting that Leicester have offered striker DJ Campbell a new deal in a bid to thwart interest in the player from Blackpool.

From the Mail’s story it is not clear of the make up of Campbell’s offer, or if indeed he has actually been offered one – the story has not been reported with any firmness elsewhere.

The news wouldn’t be that surprising though as his contract ends at the end of the season and new Foxes manager Paulo Sousa has been very complimentary about the player. Then again, they could just be looking to tie him down to a new contract so they can demand a larger fee.

It is understood that Blackpool have improved their offer for the player from £300,000 to £1 million, after the Foxes initially demanded close to £2 million for the player.
