Matt Gilks has hinted that he would welcome a longer stay on loan at Shrewsbury, and it seems clear he doesn’t have much of a future at Bloomfield Road.
The 26 year old stopper, who has played just one game for The Seasiders this campaign said ‘This is a real chance to show what I can do.’
‘My career stalled at Norwich where I was in top form last season without ever playing, and my chances have been limited at Blackpool.
‘I’ve played 200 games for Rochdale, so I know what League Two is about, and now at Shrewsbury this could be a real turning point for me.’
And it’s obvious that Rochdale born Gilks doesn’t believe he has much of a future at Blackpool, as he went onto say ‘I know Blackpool have taken another goalkeeper – Graham Stack from Plymouth – on loan, so going back there I’d probably be worse off.
‘I’m really enjoying it at Shrewsbury, so I’ve got to train hard and play well.’
