Picture the last time these two clubs met. An evening at St Andrews that just a few months ago, sent the Seasiders back to Wembley for another Championship play off final.

Neither manager remains and it is fair to say both clubs have had mixed fortunes since that fateful night in May.

Blackpool turned in an almost schizophrenic performance on Saturday. The positive amongst us will say we at least had the better performance in the second half and we can now push on.

With Birmingham losing at the weekend and Blackpool only winning one in their last five fixtures, we could be in for a hesitant start. Neither will want to lose this one, but likewise it is clear that Michael Appleton wants a reaction from the team and of course, his first win at the seaside.

Kevin Phillips told the Evening Gazette that the manager had a ‘few choice words’ at half time on Saturday. Let’s hope at half time tonight he is an ‘appy man, with all the blues in Lee Clark’s camp.
