If you’ve read Jack’s fantastic match preview at the top of the home page, you’ll have read that Ian Holloway is buzzing about the prospect of the Seasiders making the top six come the end of the season.

However, the manager has also issued a note of caution, stating that Scunthorpe will provide the Seasiders with their toughest test of the season to date.

Despite the fact that Scunthorpe have won three on the spin (keeping two clean sheets in the process), you get the sense that there’s some kidology involved in what Ollie said – he simply wanted to remind everyone, especially his on players, that they’ve got to perform and keep their foot firmly on the gas to ensure that they pick up the three points this afternoon.

Speaking to the assembled media at his pre-match press conference, Holloway said:

‘All we’ve got to do is try and put pressure on the people above us immediately.

‘I think that Scunthorpe will be the toughest game of the season, they’ve won their last three games and are fighting for their lives.

‘We had a very tough game against them earlier in the season and went 1-0 down, and then they had a man sent off and we went on to beat them 4-1.

‘Until that sending off it was such a tough game and now we have to play them at their ground.

‘We then play Doncaster who are only two points from us, so it’s all open.

‘We want to try and put as much pressure on everybody above us as we possibly can and enjoy ourselves. Hopefully our fans will realise that.’

Fans who wish to make the trip to Scunthorpe today and reminded that their are only 800 tickets still available, and that they will be issued on a first come first served basis via paying on the gate.
