Following the ‘Deepdale Done Again` night at Bloomfield Road earlier this summer, we can reveal the great news that enough money has been raised to fund a memorial plaque for Kevin Olsson.

On 24th August 1974, 17 year old Blackpool fan Kevin Olsson was stabbed to death at the back of the Spion Kop at Bloomfield Road during a match with Bolton Wanderers in what was the first hooligan death at an English football match.

The total cost of the plaque is £400, and the money was raised on the night through a raffle and auction, where two tickets to watch a Blackpool home game from the director`s box were up for grabs.

The plaque is sized 18 inches by 18 inches by 2 inches and will be located at the North West corner of the ground. The plaque will erected next week and will be unveiled at a ceremony before the Wigan game in the Carling Cup.

Many thanks to the fans who made this lasting and moving tribute possible, as well as the football club themselves.
