Loftus Road – QPR – SeasideEssexXile

Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich mans world. Money, money, money, always sunny, in the rich mans world. So the song tells us, and they don`t get much richer than QPR`s man behind the scenes. Money to burn, players bopught for fun, surely QPR have too much in reserve to go down? 6points off the last relegation place, but only 2 behind the mighty, a win on Tuesday night will see the ‘Oops move above us. Oftus Rd has never been an easy ground for us, let`s hope that money won`t be able to buy them our love.

How to get there
From the North: M55, M6, then on to the M42. Leave the 42 at J3a and join the M40 signposted London. Joint the M25 signposted Heathrow. Join the M4 signposted London West. Take the M4 to J2 -Chiswick, then the A315 and then the A402 to Shepherd’s Bush join the A4020 A4020 following signs to Acton, turn right in 0.25 mile into Loftus Road.
For the Virgin lovers amongst us, Euston then the tube. Queens Park tube station is not near the ground. Use the Shepherds Bush stations, there are two.One is on the Central Line and the other on the Hammersmith & City line.
From White City Station (Central Line): Come out of the station and cross the traffic lights straight infront of you. Then turn right up that road (Wood Lane), and walk for about 100m until you meet the first road on your left, this should be White City road. Walk down this for about 200m. The White City Road then curves off to the right, while South Africa road carries on in the same direction. Take the South Africa road past some astro turf playing fields on your left and eventually to Loftus Road Stadium.
From Shepherds Bush Station (Hammersmith and City Line): You will come out onto Uxbridge Road, you then walk right along that for 300-400m until you get to Loftus Road on your right. Then walk along Loftus Road, and you get to Loftus Road Stadium.

The Ground
Loftus Rd is a tight & compact ground. With a capacity of 19,000+ nothing much has changed over the years and the stadium has a feel of familiarity about it. Pool fans will be sat behind a goal, in the upper tier of the School End. Room for 1,200. Tuesday night, in between two Saturdays at home, more than enough room for our travelling support.

Where to drink
Take your pick from: The Springbok right by the ground (near the ticket office). Come out of White City Underground Station, go down the road right in front of the station; the Springbok is down on the left. Around Shepherds Bush Green is O’Neills and Walkabout which are both okay for away fans. To find Shepherds Bush Green; exit Shepherds Bush Underground (the Hammersmith & City line station), turn left out of the station and the green is a short way down the road on the right. Diagonally across Shepherds Bush Green opposite the Central line entrance to Shepherds Bush Underground Station, is a retail complex called Vue, which upstairs includes a Wetherspoons outlet. No beer on sale in the away end.

Plod & Stewards
As always with the Met there`ll be a large presence but there`ll be no trouble and QPR is usually a safe ground to travel to.

Fear Factor Rating – 4.

Pool overcome QPR with a last minute winner earlier on in the season. The games are coming thick and fast and with Saturdays derby in mind the need to keep the unbeaten streak going will be put to a stern test. Here`s hoping that we can have the Hoops for tea and follow this up with a ‘sweet` win on Saturday.
