Ahead of Saturday’s clash here’s a quick look back at the last time the two teams met at the seaside.

December 9, 2006
Blackpool 1 – 1 Swansea City
Attendance: 6,216 (438 Swansea)

Blackpool:
Evans
Barker
Jackson (Vernon 79)
Evatt
Carl Dickinson
Forbes
Fox
Southern
Hoolahan
Parker
Morrell (Burgess 46)

Swansea:
Gueret
Amankwaah
Lawrence
Iriekpen (Watt)
Austin
Robinson
Craney
Tate
Britton (MacDonald 90)
Fallon (Akinfenwa 64)
Trundle

The visitors opened the scoring against the run of play on 20 minutes. A Lee Trundle inswinging corner was diverted into his own net by on-loan full back Carl Dickinson.

Keigan Parker had a goal ruled out for offside and Evatt, Fox, Forbes and Morrell all missed chances in the first half.

Attacking the noisy North stand in the second half Pool continued to press. Parker had another effort chalked off for offside and Wes Hoolahan saw his thumping effort come bak off the crossbar.

With the home side laying seige to the Swansea goal, Willy Gueret was finally beaten with nine minutes left as Scott Vernon was put through by Hoolahan and the striker coolly slotted home the equaliser.

The game stuck in my memory for the main reason of how one sided it was, with Pool battering the Swans’. Pool won the return game 6-3 on the way to that glorious triumph at Wembley and promotion to the Championship.

Interestingly, the likes of David Fox, Keith Southern, Shaun Barker, Ian Evatt and Ben Burgess should all start in Saturday’s game, as they did two years ago.

For Swansea only Alan Tate and Leon Britton will survive from that match two years ago to be in contention this time around.

A crowd of just over 6,200 watched the game two years ago. How many more will be at Bloomfield Road this time? A few hundred more at best I reckon. Let’s hope for a similar dominating performance and the three points this time.
