Height: 5.10
Weight: 12.10
Date of birth: 12-10-1980

The Seasiders signed ‘Flynny` on a free transfer from Gillingham in July 2007, the Welshman`s second stint at Bloomfield Road.

At Gillingham, he was made captain under Ronny Jepson and notched up 105 appearances for ‘The Gills` in his two year stay at The Priestfield Stadium. Naturally a goal scorer, the former Barry Town man found the net on 21 occasions for Gillingham and played under three separate managers in an unsettled time in the clubs history.

Flynn – aged 26 – started his career at Newport County in 1999, before moving to Barry Town a year later, before being loaned out to former side County in the same year.

In 2002 he got his break into English football when Second Division Wigan Athletic came knocking and he put pen to paper after Dave Whelan spent £15K on the central midfielder. He went on to make 46 appearances for ‘The Latics` – astonishingly with 38 of these from the bench, with Michael being limited to just eight starts. He did show his goalscoring instincts early though, as he scored three goals in his limited time on the pitch.

His goalscoring and impressive performances coming off the bench led ‘Pool to come take him on loan for a month back in 2004. Flynn played seven games during his stint at Blackpool, with some lively showings, leading to Paul Jewell recalling him and after his spell here, played a number of his 46 games for Wigan until January 2005 when he signed for Gillingham, but despite his goals from midfield, couldn`t prevent them being relegated to League One.

Flynn turned down a contract offer from Gillingham in the close season of 2007, and promptly moved to the seaside.

Was very impressed with him last time he was with us. We will need his goals from midfield, that’s for sure!

Absolutely hated by the vast majority of Gills fans. I’m not one of them though. Flynn was absolute class for us in the Championship, hope he does the same for you.

Good luck to Hillsy as well, a player who didn’t get a fair rub of the green in his second season with us.

Quick question though… Five separate managers? Where have you imagined that? Try three… Ternent, Cooper the Clown and Jepson the Joker.

Thanks for those positive words Jon. Now it’s up to the players!
