Blackpool will face Birmingham in the playoff semi finals after a 2-2 draw against Millwall this afternoon.

The Seasiders went into today in 4th place, but finish 5th courtesy of the Blues’ 2-0 win over champions Reading. West Ham face Cardiff in the other semi final.

‘Pool made five changes for today’s game, as they looked to give some regulars a breather and allow others to get some match fitness under their belts. Sylvestre, Southern, Dicko, LuaLua and Kevin Phillips all coming into the side.

The hosts have ended the season on a great run of form, and enjoyed the better of the first half.

On eleven minutes Matt Gilks turned the impressive Harry Kane’s drive around the post.

Seconds later though, Kenny Jackett’s side were ahead; LuaLua giving away possession cheaply and Andy Keogh racing onto a ball over the top of the ‘Pool defence before sliding home.

The hosts spurned chances to double their lead before Ian Evatt equalised just before the half hour mark, heading home Stephen Crainey’s freekick.

Tom Ince then missed a sitter just before the break as the Seasiders began to find their rhythm.

‘Pool enjoyed the better of the second period and took the lead with twenty minutes to go; Crainey the supplier again, Nouha Dicko with the finish.

However, ‘Pool were denied both 4th place and all three points courtesy of Kane’s late half volley.
