QPR and Blackpool are close to agreeing a deal for the transfer of Ian Evatt, Blackpool Vital understands. Talks have developed over the past few hours since we last brought you some news.
Central defender Evatt has been on loan with the Seasiders since the start of the season and QPR are keen for his move to be made permanent.
Evatt struggled following his move to Loftus Road from Chesterfield in 2005 and was transfer-listed in April 2006. by former Rangers manager Ian Holloway just six months after arriving.
Holloway had previously compared Evatt to former QPR favourite Glenn Roeder.
Evatt was given a fresh start when Holloway was replaced by Gary Waddock, but he too then decided the defender was surplus to requirements.
Current R’s boss John Gregory, who knows Evatt well from their Derby days where he was a youngster on the books, has shown no interest in having the player back at the club since taking over.
Evatt has impressed many in his time at the Seaside and the Blackpool fans, and management, are also keen to make him a permanent feature at the club during the January window.
Talks are ongoing and Evatt’s move is expected to be rubber-stamped in the next couple of days.
