Pitch Inspection Due

Referee Steve Tanner is scheduled to have a walk around the pitch at 10am this morning to assess whether the playing surface is suitable for playing on for today’s game with Premiership-hopefuls, Birmingham City.

It’s been yet another freezing night in Blackpool and – looking out of my windows in North Shore – the grass football pitch across from my humble abode are suitably frozen over, as are the rooftops of houses all around!

Plymouth’s game against Crystal Palace has already fallen foul to the weather today and, seemingly, we’ll find out shortly whether ours has followed in kind.

The last time a game was called off – if memory serves me correctly – because of a frozen pitch was back in our League One days when a game against Oldham (whom we beat in the playoffs, of course) was called off because of a frozen pitch.

Judging by temperatures of -3 showing on my little desktop ‘widget’, it’s safe to say that should the pitch be declared as playable, multiple pairs of socks, scarves, hats, gloves and a thick coat will be the attire for the day in the stands at Bloomfield Road!
