‘Pool Bag Three

The transfer deadline saw The Seasiders bring in two new faces to Bloomfield Road, and it looks as if a third will be forthcoming very soon.

Crystal Palace midfielder Stuart Green has signed on an 18 month deal with an option for a further year. The former Hull City man has been a long term target for Simon Grayson, and Green turned ‘Pool down in a past window to join the London club – with father-in-law Peter Taylor in charge, which he now isn’t after the appointment of Neil Warnock.

Green has made just 12 starts in his time at Selhurst Park, scoring four goals. At Hull City he found the net 18 times in 89 starts – not a bad goal to games ratio.

The second signing – an initial loan period with an option to sign in the summer – is for Latvian goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors who moves from FK Jurmala after a successful trial spell at Squires Gate before Christmas.

Paul Dickov is the last signing to be made at Bloomfield Road, and it is widely expected that he will be given confirmation by the FA and Football League to come on loan from Manchester City today.

The former Scotland international may go straight into the squad tomorrow to face his old club Leicester City, looking to do better in front of goal than in his last two years, with his last goal coming in 2006 for Blackburn Rovers. However, Dickov brings experience and quality up top, and although not a natural goalscorer, will definitely excite the Blackpool crowd. He has played at Bloomfield Road already this season, as he came off the bench for Crystal Palace in Neil Warnock’s first game in charge. Incidentally, Stuart Green was an unused substitute that day.
