‘Pool Battle For Welsh International

The Seasiders are battling it out with Derby County (who else?) for Oldham Athletic defender Neal Eardley.

At just 20, the Welsh international would represent a good investment for ‘Pool and fit the mould of a bright up-and-coming player – which suits new gaffer Ian Holloway.

However, Blackpool this week denied that they were at all interested in Eardley, who has already captained Oldham.

Since making his full Wales debut in 2007, he’s played ten times for his country and has been in the national set up for most fixtures.

A fee between the two clubs is unknown but somewhere in the region of £500k may be a close estimate.

Whether or not we are willing to pay that kind of money – even after selling Shaun Barker for close to a million last week – is up for debate and if there were a straight battle between us and The Rams surely there’d be only one winner?
